Hello! I'm Imre Gelens, and let's be honest: Europe is massively behind in the global digital race. This isn't a problem we can ignore anymore. It's a challenge we must tackle head-on. This blog is a contribution to that effort. It is a documentation of the journey to build truly European tech companies and the discoveries made along the way. We'll explore the landscape of technology, regulation, policy, funding, and more, all with the goal of helping startups in Europe grow and thrive.

Through articles, I want to spotlight the initiatives, products, and people shaping Europe’s tech ecosystem. I will delve into the challenges faced by our startups and share insights to foster a more vibrant and collaborative environment.

This platform is dedicated to achieving three key goals:

• Create a community of European builders: bring together founders, engineers, investors, and policymakers from all EU member states to share experiences and build connections.
• Share knowledge and thoughts: explore how Europe can become truly sovereign in tech, discussing strategies, policies, and technological advancements that reduce our dependence on non-European players.
• Learn about initiatives underway: highlight and learn from the many initiatives already in motion across Europe, giving a voice to those actively working to close the digital gap.

I am committed to making this blog accessible to everyone in the (greater) European Union. My aim is to have all content available in the 24 official languages spoken in the EU through machine translation, which I believe to not be perfect, but of sufficient quality to allow for content to be broadly available as long as we are willing to accept some level of textual defects.

This blog is a platform for discussion. I firmly believe that we have many builders in Europe who are capable of doing great things. This is an attempt to rally around a common goal.
